It is an honor and privilege to serve as your State Representative for North Kona. Together we have achieved some remarkable victories in recent years and I will continue to work hard to face Hawaii's many challenges and to build a better future for our next generation. With the new district maps for 2022, this year I will be running for election to District 7, which runs from the middle of Kailua-Kona town up to Waikoloa Road, and includes Kailua, Kealakehe, Honokohau, parts of Holualoa, Kalaoa, Kaloko, Pu’uwa’awa’a, Waikoloa Beach, Pu’ulani, and Puako.
As your voice at the State Capitol, I have supported our schools, farmers, and have fought for more funding for affordable housing. As the Chair of the Committee on Energy and Environment, I have helped to lead the state and nation in bold energy, climate and environmental policy. We have worked together to protect our beautiful environment and natural resources, and passed bills for government transparency and campaign finance reform. I have worked on reducing state debt, and bringing our fair share of funding home to Hawaii Island with projects like Palamanui Community College, the Kona Courthouse, and a Federal Inspections Station for Kona Airport. Over the past two years, throughout the pandemic, I have worked harder than ever to keep everyone informed and to help our community navigate these challenging times.
